Prioritizing Candidate Data Security: Emi Earns SOC 2 Type II Certification
Emi Labs, Inc. (Emi) is proud to announce that it has, once again, successfully completed the System and Organization Controls (SOC) 2 Type II examination in recognition of its commitment to information security.
Here is why SOC 2 is essential for recruitment technology like Emi.
Security in recruitment automation
Candidates and the organizations they apply to trust that their software providers protect their information, but it’s all too easy for something to go awry, even when some safety measures are in place. The “basics” of two-factor authentication and access controls are not enough to stop a potentially catastrophic data breach. So, it’s essential that talent teams know that the recruitment technology they adopt is taking the extra steps necessary to ensure the highest level of security.
For us, data security isn't a mere feature of our frontline recruitment automation platform–it's the bedrock. Without confidence in our ability to keep their information, leading companies like Walmart, Burger King, and Heineken would not have been able to partner with Emi in streamlining their high-volume hiring efforts.
Why SOC 2 Type II is so important
Developed by the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), SOC 2 (System and Organization Controls) defines criteria for managing customer data based on five “trust service principles”—security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy.
A SOC 2 examination is a report on an organization’s internal controls and how it protects customer data and sensitive information. It is the standard for data security among digital companies. Emi also completed the additional “availability” criterion, which evaluates whether information and services are available for operation and use to meet the organization's objectives. This includes considerations of system uptime and continuity of services.
In order to earn this certification, Emi partnered with an independent auditor, Insight Assurance, to conduct the detailed examination. Through this process, Emi has demonstrated its adherence to data security and availability standards developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) by being evaluated on the following
- Assessment of the design and operating effectiveness of Emi Labs Inc.’s controls
- Thorough examination of the security of vendors and third parties
- Defined policies to ensure continued protection for customers and employees
- Defined controls to enhance service availability in the event of disasters
With its SOC 2 recognition, we not only protect the safety of our customers’ data today, but we also believe it shows a commitment to setting security standards for the future.
Our achievement with the SOC 2 Type II examination supports our pledge to provide an excellent candidate experience without compromising on data security. Rest assured, your information is in safe hands with Emi.
